The Foundation for Recovery’s second annual Art of Recovery Exhibit & Auction was once again held at the UNLV Tam Alumni Center. The quality of artwork, community participation and terrific attendance led to the success of this year’s event. More than 85 original artworks were exhibited and sold through live and silent auctions to benefit the Foundation.
The exhibit of student and professional artwork was on display at the Tam Alumni Hall’s gallery from March 20th through April 10th. Among the highlights of the exhibit were three pieces from the “Expressions of Addiction” collection on loan from Dr. Howard Shaffer (http://www.expressionsofaddiction.com) The exhibit also featured student artworks from Green Valley and Coronado High Schools, juried by Diane Giusti, Julie Johnson and Michael Corrente.
The evening of Saturday, April 10th, the exciting live auction took place in Tam Alumni Hall’s Marietta Tiberti Grand Ballroom and was officiated over by Roger West and Todd Petersen. A total of 38 pieces from the diverse and beautiful collection were sold to bidders from amongst the 100 plus attendees. In addition to the excitement of the live auction, guests were able to meet some of the very talented artists and enjoyed complimentary hors d’oeuvres and refreshments while experiencing the unique musical stylings of the Green Valley High School Jazz Ensemble.
The Foundation for Recovery wishes to extend our most sincere thanks to the very gracious staff at UNLV, Green Valley High School, Coronado High School, Roger West and Todd Petersen, Dr. Howard Shaffer and the extremely gifted artists who so generously gave their time and talent to support the Foundation and its mission.
