Sober Social Activities

Foundation for Recovery offers a variety of sober social activities where peers can make friends that understand what they are going through, and use new therapeutic tools in real life situations. These activities free, family friendly and hosted at FFR’s Peer Recovery Community Center in Las Vegas and other indoor and outdoor locations. FFR’s Recovery Community Center in Las Vegas has ties to a variety of community resources and organizations to assist program participants to rebuild their lives and self-esteem

Our recreational activities aim to encourage a sober, healthy lifestyle and increase participants sense of competency and mastery of skills. Participants will also be encouraged to participate in hosting activities for their peers where family members may participate.

Fresh air and new experiences have undeniable therapeutic value. Group activities are healthy and fun alternatives to substance abuse. Every month the staff and volunteers lead groups on a variety of recreational activities that include outdoor and indoor activities at various locations.

Many clients with a long history of chemical dependency, particularly with methamphetamine or opiates, suffer from anhedonia (acute depression). Group activities alleviate this depression by showing clients it’s possible to have fun without abusing alcohol or drugs. A release of adrenaline energizes clients and endorphins enhance their mood.

For many, these friendships are not only vital to their immediate recovery, but last long after they leave treatment.
